Hounds for Heroes Thanks KONG for their donation
Press Release:
Hounds for Heroes Enlists The KONG Company
Endal Junior (EJ), the service partner of Allen Parton, is doggedly excited about the new Hounds For Heroes partnership with The KONG Company. Especially since a KONG toy is his favourite play item when off duty, and coincidentally it was Endal his predecessor’s too. The KONG Company have generously donated £5000 to assist us in reaching the £100,000 goal of the “Puppies on Parade Appeal”. Further they have made a wonderful on-going donation of the necessary activity toys and other KONG products for our cadet dogs during their two year training period. The level of support and long term commitment that the KONG company has offered Hounds For Heroes mirrors the relationship the parent company in the U.S. has with the U.S. equivalent of our charity.
We at Hounds For Heroes really hope that this is the start of a long term relationship with them. The welfare of our cadets is paramount to us all, and so along with a high level of training, it is just as important that their recreation and off duty times are of the highest quality too. The KONG toys will provide this as their activity toys are amongst the best. If EJ could talk we are sure that he could be quoted as saying “Our training and working life is very intensive, whenever we wear our jacket we know we are on duty, and only when that jacket is removed can we relax. The first thing I head for is my KONG toy which provides a great aid to switching off from our work and finally relaxing.”
With such a generous donation and on-going support Hounds For Heroes have responded by asking the KONG Company to name one of the first five Cadets.
Head of Fundraising trustee, Lynda Cain said in response to the donations “Hounds for Heroes has been astounded from day one with the number of individuals prepared to help us reach our target of £100,000 for our appeal. We have been completely overwhelmed by the number of people and groups fundraising for us with such enthusiasm, and now a considerable number of major companies are backing our charity at branch and national level. This is just fantastic,” Lynda continues “every day brings further good news about new donors etc. We are so proud to be a small charity, but we have a real fire in our bellies and the drive to make the charity the success it needs to be. To have been approached by such a well-known and popular company at this stage of our development is great. If one calculates the costs involved in training and supporting our first five dogs it becomes obvious that it is the small things that add largely to the costs, with this level of on-going support one of those costs has been removed and that fills us with a great sense of ease.” Founder and Vice Chairman Allen Parton said "It is an honour to have been approached by such an established reputable company at this time. At Hounds for Heroes we can make a real difference to the lives of injured and disabled Service and Emergency Service personnel in the UK through the placement of a Hounds For Heroes cadet, and with the KONG Company’s support we are another step closer to realising that dream".
Hounds For Heroes
The charity’s purpose is to provide specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women of both the UK Armed Forces and Civilian Emergency Services. Through this provision we hope to gives these men and women an enhanced quality of life in line with their expectations. We will also be able to provide help and practical support to help them achieve this. Hounds for Heroes is about enablement, an enhanced quality of life for so many injured and disabled personnel. “We are here to make a difference".
