PATS 2010 26 Mar 2010

“PATS Sandown - definitely a success and a positive indication for the trade and the year ahead!”

Ross Butterfill, European Business Development Manager, CASCO

PATS Sandown had an excited, doing-business buzz throughout both days of the show and Ross Butterfill’s views are echoed by exhibitors and visitors alike. Ross continues:

“We've had two very busy days with visitors consistently on our stand from the show opening all the way through to the end of the last day. All in all I feel that it was a very successful show for everyone who exhibited - the feedback from other exhibitors was just as enthusiastic. We are not only pleased with how busy the show itself was but also with the level of new customers we have met and the potential business that we will be taking away from it."

There were many familiar faces amongst the show’s visitors, including Russell Taylor of the Taylor Consultancy. He told the organisers:

“All your exhibitors are really pleased with this show. The stand holders are saying that there’s an even better quality of visitors than last year and that they will come back again. We are all looking forward to Harrogate!”

Our visitors and exhibitors, combined with the following figures, speak for themselves.

PATS Sandown 2010 Visitors:  1253 - 31% up on last year’s number (956)
PATS Sandown 2010 exhibitors: more than 111 exhibiting companies – 50% up on last year’s number (74)

Before the end of the first day, Alan Walmsley, Marketing Manager of Supreme Petfoods, told the PATS team:

“This has been an extremely good first day; very busy and certainly so in comparison with our last UK-based trade show in 2007. We chose the PATS opportunity to unveil our latest new product launch – Russel’s Varieties selection box, which is the first ever multi-option feeding programme for rabbits. The quality of customers here at PATS has been good today. We’ve seen visitors from a wide spread of geographic areas and a good range of businesses including larger retail chains, independent pet stores, garden centres and even one big agricultural supplier. ”

Diane Moffit of Hill’s Pet Nutrition says she and the Hill’s team are absolutely delighted with their Sandown success:

“PATS Sandown has been very good show for Hill's Pet Nutrition. People have commented on the great venue and that the show is bigger, busier and better than last year. The response to our new Snacks launch here has been excellent with great feedback. We have only good things to say about PATS.”

Alan Thompson, Sales Manager at R. C. Hagen, said:

“It’s been a great success for us! This is our brand new launch of Catit and Dogit  and we are delighted we came. We have seen lots of our own key accounts and a high number of new retailers over both days – mostly pet independents but also a notable number of vet practices. Our theme here at PATS is ‘R C Hagen is not just about aquatics’ and it’s been really successful and well received by all the pet retail visitors we’ve seen.”

A number of exhibitors commented on the increased interest from veterinary practices and garden centres, including Pet Food UK and Hemmo & Co. Beth Witte, Hemmo’s creative director, enthused:

“PATS Sandown was absolutely the best show! I can't put into words how fantastic it was! The quality of visitors was even better than last year - we've seen a great range of visitors including lots of veterinary practices and dog trainers. The traffic was constant and we took so many orders we've more than paid for the stand.”

Hemmo and Co launched at PATS Sandown 2009 and the company is delighted that visitors in 2010 actually sought them out once more to find out about their latest innovations. It was a similar story with Pet Republic, who launched at PATS Harrogate last year:

“As a new, young company we did Harrogate last year; now, we are a year old and doing Sandown for the first time. PATS has been really good – we’ve met existing customers, made many new leads, opened excellent new accounts and received positive feedback. The show has a friendly atmosphere and the organisers really support us; PATS is absolutely excellent and we are looking forward to Harrogate 2010.”

Kay Wright of Eurostitch was also delighted, not just with the level of business but also with the level of international interest:

“It’s certainly been busier than last year! We’ve been really busy on both days of PATS Sandown, seeing new/existing customers and taking orders. We’ve seen a wide range of visitors; pet shops, garden centres, multiple chains and also a surprise export order, for America and Canada.  This has definitely been a great show for us and we are really looking forward to Harrogate.”

Pete Beverton of Allpet adds his voice:

"PATS is absolutely superb! In contrast with other UK based trade shows, what we have here is an audience we actually want to see…retailers and wholesalers, all focused and targeted and all of whom we will be supplying. We’ve been very successful here at Sandown; we’ve created a lot of new business, taken many orders with more to come."

With re-booking requests at a very high level, the last word goes to Angela Critchley of PetSafe Ltd:

“PATS has been very good and both the quality and quantity of visitors has been excellent. You are on to a winning show! Can we re-book for next year, please?”
